Adult Hockey Skill Levels (A–E)
The following table helps players identify the appropriate league based on experience and skill level, following the format used by the Ice Centre at the Promenade.
Level | Description | Ideal For |
---|---|---|
A | Elite/Highly Skilled. Former college, junior, or pro players. Fast-paced with advanced systems and playmaking. | Ex-college or pro players |
B | Advanced. Competitive players with strong skating, puck control, and team play. Often former varsity or high-level club players. | High-level adult players or former high school varsity |
C | Intermediate. Solid skating and positional awareness. May include former JV or long-time adult players with some experience. | Intermediate players with league experience |
D | Lower Intermediate. Basic skating and understanding of positioning. Often includes newer players with a few seasons played. | Recreational players with developing skills |
E | Beginner. Newer adult players still working on skating, rules, and fundamentals. Emphasis on fun and learning. | New players or returners after a long break |
